How to Pitch Your Podcast?
December 6, 2016
When starting out with podcasting, pitching your podcast can seem like a daunting task. But it is important to push through and make sure you promote your show correctly! You can’t just sit back and wait for people to find you through Google. You need to do more!
Take extra time to promote your show. This will pay for itself. I promise.
Here are some simple steps to take:
How to Pitch Your Podcast: Important Steps
Step 1: iTunes
iTunes holds over 1 billion podcasts subscriptions. It is easy to use for both you and your prospective audience.
When just starting out, make sure you create a few episodes to begin with. Also tags, album artwork and an RSS feed will go a long way.
Step 2: Pinterest
Show notes are very important for drawing listeners in. This tells them exactly what they will find in your podcast – but without giving too much information. Add show notes to Pinterest to help boost your show.
Step 3: Google
Don’t forget about Google profile. This is an invaluable tool for linking your content. Be sure to use it!
Step 4: Social Media & YouTube
Remember to make use of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Include show notes to Facebook.
Post a short video to YouTube about the recording of your podcast. You don’t need to record the entire session – or at least don’t make the entire video about it. Just do a little two to three minute video about the behind-the-scenes stuff.
Step 5: Interview an Author
So many podcasts find great benefit from this. Look on Amazon for authors in niches similar to yours and start contacting people to feature someone on your show!
Step 6: Promote With Other Podcasters
Find podcasters in a similar niche or who target a similar audience as you. Promote one another’s shows by interviewing or mentioning one another in your podcasts.
